Hello Families,

Put away the pens, pencils and little pieces of paper because there is now an app for that! No more notes to school when you need to change how your child is dismissed. We are trying this out to see if it works for our BES families. Here are the details:

No More Notes!  PickUp Patrol is coming to Bow Elementary School.

We now have a more convenient and efficient way for you to communicate changes to your children’s after school dismissal plans - PickUp Patrol - a cloud-based application that streamlines the after school dismissal process.

How it Works

Parents use PickUp Patrol to make plan changes from their computer, tablet or Smart Phone. That’s right – No more notes and phone calls!

To make a dismissal change:

Select a date, your child’s name and the mode of transportation you desire.

Hit submit and that’s it!

You can make plan changes at your convenience and submit them days, weeks or months in advance. And for added security, you’ll receive a confirmation email each time a change is made.

Be on the lookout for a “Welcome to Pickup Patrol” email with login instructions.

Correct, I didn’t write that, but it captures the message so I passed it on. The email will reach you around the time you received this letter. If you don’t see it, go ahead and check your Junk or Spam folder. If still no luck, let us know via phone (225-3049) or email (aforbes@bownet.org).

Fall has brought cooler weather and with it, the need for warmer clothing.  The temperature on the playground can vary greatly during the course of the day.  This week, jackets and sweaters are needed in the morning but children sometimes report being hot in the middle of the day.  Our suggestion, of course, is dressing in layers, easy on and off clothing that can help your child feel comfortable throughout the day.  It is also helpful to label all clothing so when something gets left on the playground or cafeteria, we can return it to its rightful owner right away.  Otherwise, it gets placed in Lost and Found.  Thanks!

Next Tuesday is Picture Day! We enjoy this day as the children always impress us with how they prepare themselves. We see favorite outfits and spiffy hair. Some children seem to have fun with the whole event. This reminds me of a certain picture day at Bow Memorial School back, well, back a ways. That year the day was held on November 1st. You know, the day after October 31st? I’ll spare you the details, but suffice it to say that my mother was not pleased when she saw the pictures that came home just in time for Christmas. These days we have that wonderful thing called “Retake Picture Day” that will occur after these pictures arrive.

Welcome to fall!

Respectfully,

Kurt Gergler
