We are excited to have the author/illustrator of the Fairy House books, Tracy Kane, visit with our school on Monday, May 18th, and Tuesday, May 19th (rain date Thursday, May 21).

She will be sharing her work as an author/illustrator and guiding students in building their own fairy houses outside during her visit. Many of our students have experienced building fairy houses as first graders and now will be working on this creative, imaginative activity as a school community.

In order to help make our building activity successful we are asking students to collect and bring in natural items from home that will stay in their fairy houses. We are looking for only natural items such as: shells, pine cones, fallen branches and twigs, acorns and acorn tops, leaves, moss, small pebbles, bark fallen from trees, feathers, dried ferns
and grass clippings, etc. These natural items should be things that your student is willing to share and leave in their fairy houses. Please send in these items in a labeled (student and teacher’s names) shopping bag or container. Students should bring in their collections by Friday, May 15. Families are welcome to view the fairy houses during the Education Fair, Thursday, June 4, 2015.
